However, Henry Ford debuted the gasoline-powered Model T in 1912, and by 1935, EV sales had all but ceased.

The development of the contemporary EV, however, occurred during the previous 30 years 

According to a list of "The Quickest Cars of 2022" compiled by U.S. News, the Tesla Model S Plaid

According to Tesla, the Model S Plaid can reach a high speed of 200 mph and completes a quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds

The Model S Plaid has an all-wheel drive system and three electric motors with a total output of 1,020 horsepower.

The Lucid Air Dream P accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 2.5 seconds and tops out at 168 mph.

The Air Dream is also available from Lucid in two trims, the Air Dream R and Air Dream P, where "R" refers for "range" 

 All four wheels of the Air Dream P are propelled by two electric motors that have a combined 1,111 horsepower.

The 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid is difficult to dislike if acceleration and peak speed are the only factors taken into account.

On paper and on the track, the Plaid surpasses every stock production car, even the Lucid Air Dream P. 

However, most owners of sports cars spend more time on the road than on the track
