First Drive: 2023 Mazda CX-50 Takeaways You Need to Know

The new Mazda CX-50 is just one of several upgrades that Mazda is bringing to the table.

With the 2023 Mazda CX-50, we have only just begun our week, but there are already a tonne of lessons to be learned. See how the tough new Mazda SUV stacks up.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 worth buying?

Yes, the Mazda CX-50 is a fantastic SUV to think for for 2023. Compared to the Mazda CX-5, it is bigger and has better off-roading capability.

The Subaru Crosstrek, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4 may fall victim to the CX-50 even if it cannot compete with Jeep Wrangler models.

It's entertaining to drive, much like a standard Mazda SUV.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder base engine has 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. For an increase of 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, choose the turbocharged model.

Based on around four hours of driving, the CX-50 boasts a quick acceleration, sensitive handling, and stable braking.

The quick turning circle and athletic performance are impressive. It doesn't sag like some of the bigger alternatives.

The CX-50, however, is noisier inside and bumpier than other alternatives in the range in Sport and Normal settings.

But when moving from sophisticated daily drives to a more robust alternative, it is the expected trade-off.

The Mi Drive's fuel-saving mode and all of its off-roading capabilities haven't yet been put to the test. After we finish our thorough evaluation, we will keep you informed.
