The Ram 1500 TRX is the kind of larger-than-life car that made many of us at C/D fall in love with cars

The big Ram's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 alone gave us 702 reasons to rate it at 40,000 miles—it's

the most powerful vehicle we've ever tested for an extended period of time.

That it's also the top-10 winning Ram 1500's answer to the mighty Ford F-150 Raptor sealed the deal

We wanted one. However, after a year of living together,

we are struck not only by the absurdity that TRX brings to everything it does

but also by how much it has accomplished during its stay.

Director of testing Dave VanderWerp said in the TRX Journal

“It's a Mercedes S-Class rear-seat Hellcat and a 3.5-ton truck with suspension that allows for big jumps through the air.

Plus, it's still useful as a pickup. Unbelievable.” We will add that it is a rich source of fun in any terrain.

With 650 pound-feet of torque, permanent four-wheel drive, and a deftly tuned eight-speed ZF automatic

our TRX hit 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with launch control engaged.

The quarter mile went down in a blistering 12.4 seconds at 110 mph, the V-8 blower wailing the entire way.

Those times improved to 3.7 and 12.3 seconds by the end of our test, making it even easier for this monster to surprise some formidable performance cars at stoplights, including our long-term Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing sedan.
